Seaford juvenile arrested on arson charge

SEAFORD — A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on a felony first-degree arson charge following a fire that caused an estimated $3 million in damage to a Family Dollar Store Monday night.

The fire, reported at 5:07 p.m.,went to several alarms, bringing multiple agencies to the scene, authorities said. The fire totally destroyed the building and contents.

The investigation determined the fire to be the result of arson and follow up led to the arrest of the 16 year old juvenile. Four counts of felony first-degree reckless endangering also resulted.

Authorities said the juvenile was released to his parent on $14,000 unsecured bond. The investigation continues and other charges may result, the fire marshal said.
