Seaford offender fails to return to SCCC

Rodney Leonard

GEORGETOWN — A 26-year-old Seaford man was sought after failing to return from an approved work pass from Sussex Community Corrections Center Tuesday, the Delaware Department of Correction said.

The DOC said Rodney Leonard’s whereabouts were unknown and unauthorized. A warrant for escape after conviction was issued.

Leonard was described as a 6-foot, 200-pound black male with brown eyes and black hair, and tattoos on his upper right and left arms and left shoulder. His original offense was theft greater than $1,500.

The DOC asked anyone with information on Leonard’s whereabouts to call (800) 542-9524 or their local police department.

Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities where the Department of Correction manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. These centers are not secured like Level 5 prisons, as offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs, or attend approved treatment sessions.
