Search warrants followed by arrests in Dover

DOVER — Two drug arrests followed two search warrant executions Friday, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Ernest Washington, 42, and Teresa Bowers, 31, were taken into custody after search warrants at a residence in the 400 block of East Water Street and at Saint Jones Mini-Storage at 666 S. DuPont Highway during a drug investigation, authorities said.

Prior to executing the search warrants, Mr. Washington, a target in the investigation, was stopped in a vehicle in the area of Minima Street and West North Street, police said. During that stop, Mr. Washington was found to have 4.8 grams of crack cocaine and 503 grams of marijuana in his possession, according to authorities.

During the following search warrants, officers located a total of 405.2 grams of cocaine, 331.7 grams of marijuana, $2,211 in drug proceeds, and seized a 2011 Kia Forte that Mr. Washington was driving, police said.

Ms. Bowers was taken into custody at the residence without incident.

Mr. Washington was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine (two counts), possession of marijuana (two counts), paraphernalia (two counts), possession of cocaine in a Tier 5 quantity, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana in a Tier 1 quantity, second-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. Mr. Washington was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in default of $159,000 cash bond.

Ms. Bowers was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana, paraphernalia, possession of cocaine in a Tier 5 quantity, possession with intent to deliver marijuana in a Tier 1 quantity, second-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on $78,750 secured bond.
