Sixth DUI of alcohol for Georgetown man

Salomon V. Morales

BRIDGEVILLE — A 51-year-old Georgetown man was arrested on a sixth DUI of alcohol charge after a vehicle stop Friday night on Coverdale Road in the area of Millpark Drive, Delaware State Police said Saturday.

Salomon V. Morales was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta when a traffic violation allegedly occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m., spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said. Upon making contact with Mr. Morales, who police said was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, the trooper allegedly detected a strong odor of alcohol, which initiated a DUI investigation.

Further investigation was able to determine that Mr. Morales had five prior DUI convictions, authorities said.

Other charges included driving while suspended, no proof of insurance and improper taillights. Mr. Morales was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $7,101 cash bail.
