Smyrna man arrested following altercation

SMYRNA — Following the issuance of a Gold Alert Saturday, a 29-year-old Smyrna man was taken into custody early Sunday.

Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said that on Saturday at approximately 11:20 p.m., Christopher Scott was involved in a verbal altercation with his father at a residence located in the 6000 block of North DuPont Highway, Dover.

During the altercation, Mr. Scott allegedly displayed a handgun and pointed it at his father, causing him alarm. Cpl. Austin said that after the altercation, Mr. Scott fled in a 2001 red, Chevy Monte Carlo bearing Delaware tags.

Warrants were on file charging Mr. Scott with aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Cpl. Austin said arraignment information regarding the associated criminal charges were unavailable Sunday evening.
