Teen arrested for attempted robbery, related charges

Emner O. Morales Garcia

SELBYVILLE – Delaware State Police arrested a Georgetown teen for attempted robbery and related charges in their investigation of a reported incident that occurred Wednesday near Selbyville.

Emner O. Morales Garcia, 18, was charged with Attempted to Commit Robbery First Degree; Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony; two counts of Aggravated Menacing and two counts of Assault Third Degree, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. March 6 at a residence in the 38000 block of Wilson Avenue, Cape Windsor in the Selbyville area.

State police allege Garcia entered the house uninvited to retrieve money that was reported to be owed to him, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Investigation revealed Garcia pointed a handgun at a 15-year-old resident and a physical altercation ensued.  A 20-year-old male heard the commotion and when he went to see what was happening Garcia pointed the handgun at him, Cpl. Jaffe said.

The 15-year-old sustained minor injuries. The 20-year-old was uninjured.

Garcia fled the residence prior to police arrival. He later turned himself in at Troop 4 where a pellet gun was recovered from his vehicle, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Garcia was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $41,200 unsecured bond.
