Terroristic threatening arrest made in Rehoboth

Dwayne A. Barnes

REHOBOTH BEACH — A 19-year-old Millsboro man was arrested on a terroristic threatening charge Monday after troopers were dispatched to the 34000 block of Tugboat Court in Rehoboth Shores Monday, police said.

According to Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:15 p.m. for a report of a disorderly subject with a gun. Upon arrival, troopers learned that Dwayne A. Barnes was allegedly involved in an altercation in the roadway in which he reportedly displayed a BB gun, police said. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Barnes allegedly attempted to break into a 21-year-old female’s residence by kicking in the rear door. The Rehoboth Shores security officer was contacted and made aware of the situation and upon his arrival, police said, he was allegedly threatened.

Mr. Barnes had allegedly fled the area prior to police arrival, but was subsequently located by Probation and Parole hiding in a pond off of Tugboat Court and taken into custody without further incident, authorities said.

Charges included second-degree attempted burglary, terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on $12,200 unsecured bond.
