Two burglaries lead to charges against Felton man

MAGNOLIA — A 19-year-old Felton man was arrested in alleged connection with two burglaries and other related offenses in the Magnolia and Dover area, Delaware State Police said.

The first alleged incident occurred sometime Sunday and Thursday when a suspect broke into the London Village Baptist Chapel at 568 Millchop Lane in Magnolia through a rear window, spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said. Once inside, the suspect forced entry into a locked office. Prior to leaving the building the suspect removed a jar of coins and fled the building with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Authorities said investigation identified Adam Brown as a person of interest.

The second alleged incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 8 a.m. when troopers responded to a residence on the 600 block of Walnut Shade Road in Dover, for a report of a burglary, police said. Upon arrival, contact was made with the homeowner who advised that someone had broken into her house through a window, authorities said. Once inside, the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash prior to fleeing, police said.

On Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m., police said, troopers observed Mr. Brown on Millchop Lane at Lambert Drive. He was taken into custody without incident.

Charges included second- and third-degree burglary, theft, theft under $1,500 and two counts of criminal mischief. Mr. Brown was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and released on $16,200 unsecured bond.
