Two charged following probe of alleged gang activity

DOVER — Two men were charged with drug and firearm offenses in connection with alleged gang activity, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Jawuan Horsey, 22, and Rayquian Horsey, 19, on multiple drug and weapon chargers related to gang participation.
Authorities investigated the alleged distribution of marijuana and illegal possession of firearms at a residence in the unit block of Harmony Hill Lane, police said.
Upon execution of a search warrant at the residence, the men were taken into custody without incident.

Approximately 22 pounds of marijuana were located, along with two .40 caliber handguns, 399 rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Drug dealing charges were filed, along with person prohibited, conspiracy and drug paraphernalia counts. Both men were arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court.

Jawuan Horsey was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $107,500 secured bond. Rayquian Horsey was held at SCI on $114,500 secured bond.

Third offense DUI filed against Greenwood man
HARRINGTON — A 33-year-old Greenwood man was charged with a third offense DUI after his vehicle was initially seen parked on the side of the road early Friday morning, Harrington Police spokesman Capt. Earl K. Brode said.

Bryan D. Joyner was in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle in the area of 2300 Prospect Church Road at 3:55 a.m., authorities said. An officer smelled an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle when contacting him, police said.
Following standard field sobriety tests, police said Mr. Joyner was taken into custody.

A computer check showed he had DUI convictions in 2011 and 2017, police said.
Mr. Joyner was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and released on his own recognizance to a family member pending a future court appearance.

State Police: Mother, son are facing drug charges
LAUREL — A 19-year-old Laurel man was arrested on drug charges and his 42-year-old mother sought, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

On Thursday, DSP and Laurel Police concluded a drug dealing investigation involving Japree Ayers, police said.
He had previously been indicted by the Sussex County Grand Jury and was actively wanted on two Rule 9 warrants for drug dealing, police said.

Mr. Ayers was seen leaving a residence in the 500 block of Center Street and taken into custody without incident.
Police alleged that he was in possession of approximately 3.22 grams of marijuana at the time.

A search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Center Street brought the seizure of approximately 977 bags of heroin (6.844 grams), approximately 99.34 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

The residence is owned and occupied by Ayers’ mother Rosalyn M. Ayers, police said.
There was also a juvenile present when officers arrived at the residence.
Charges against Mr. Ayers included possession with intent to deliver heroin in a Tier 4 quantity, possession of heroin in a Tier 5 quantity, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Ayers was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $101,000 secured bond.

Ms. Ayers has an active warrant out of Troop 4 for charges including maintaining a drug property, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of marijuana.

Wanted Bridgeville man charged with dealing drugs
LAUREL — A fugitive 21-year-old Bridgeville man was wanted on drug dealing charges Thursday, authorities said.
A two week investigation concluded with the apprehension of Dwayne Dashiell, who was wanted on a Rule 9 Warrant from Sussex County Superior Court after previously being indicted by the Sussex County Grand Jury, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Mr. Dashiell was observed at the Hollybrook Apartments complex in Laurel, where he was subsequently taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot from police.
DSP and Laurel Police made the apprehension.
Once taken into custody, Mr. Dashiell was found with over $800 in suspected drug proceeds and approximately 9.34 grams of marijuana packaged for sale.

Charges included two counts of drug dealing in reference to the Rule 9 Warrants.
Further charges are pending, police said.
Mr. Dashiell was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $5,000 secured bond.
