Two dead after motorcycle crashes into tree

DOVER — A Sunday evening motorcycle accident left two dead, authorities said, including a new mother.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred at about 6:27 p.m. in front of Star Hill Elementary School on Voshells Mill Star Hill Road. Police said Brendon M. Harden. 19, was driving a 2001 Suzuki Katana 600 motorcycle when he lost control.

Mr. Harden failed to navigate a slight left turn, and the motorcycle went off the road before striking a tree and ejecting the two riders. Neither Mr. Harden nor his passenger, Kiarra A. Hickman, 20, were wearing a helmet, police said.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Mr. Harden did not have a motorcycle license.

According to her Facebook page, Ms. Hickman had a baby a few months ago.
