Two face gun, drug charges after search of Dover apartment

DOVER — Two handguns and drugs were located during a search warrant execution at Liberty Court Apartments Wednesday morning, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Officers conducted the search in the E Building at 1289 Walker Road at 6:01 a.m., police said. Torshiro Priest, 38, and Janyna Evans, 30 were taken into custody without incident.

Investigation into alleged narcotics sales had been ongoing, according to authorities.

In addition to the firearms, drug paraphernalia, 30.7 grams of crack cocaine, and 3.3 grams of powder cocaine were found, police said.

Mr. Priest and Ms. Evans were both charged with possession counts of firearm during commission of a felony, with intent to deliver crack cocaine, cocaine, with intent to deliver cocaine, receiving stolen firearm, endangering the welfare of a child (three counts), firearm by person prohibited (with drugs, two counts), second-degree conspiracy and drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Priest was also charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (four counts). He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $95,000 secured bond.

Ms. Evans was also charged with maintaining a drug property. She was released on $47,000 unsecured bond.
