Wanted Bridgeville man arrested on weapons charges

ELLENDALE – A wanted Bridgeville man with active felony warrants was spotted by Delaware State Police and arrested Tuesday on multiple weapons charges.

Jordan L. Young, 20, was charged with: Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited; Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited; and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

According to state police, on July 23 just before 10 p.m. members of the Sussex Governor’s Task Force and Sussex Drug Unit observed Young as a passenger in a black Cadillac Escalade that had entered the parking lot of the Royal Farms on Beach Highway in Ellendale. 

It was known by authorities that Young currently had active felony warrants out of Troop 4, as well as being a violation of probation absconder as well as having several capiases.

Young was contacted as he was seated in the vehicle and taken into custody without incident, Cpl. Jaffe said. 

A search of Young revealed that he had a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun concealed within his pants pocket. The handgun was loaded with 17 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.  A computer check revealed that Young is a person prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Young was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court on these current and previous charges and subsequently committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $153,792 cash-only bond.
