Wanted Seaford man faces drug charges

BEAR – A wanted 49-year-old Seaford was charged with drug offenses after being located driving a vehicle Tuesday at approximately 2 p.m., Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Reginald L. Sample was driving a red Mercedes stopped for following a vehicle too closely in the area of U.S. 13 and Beaver Brook, authorities said. A wanted check showed he had an active warrant for his arrest out of Sussex County. Mr. Sample was taken into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of Mr. Sample’s vehicle led to the recovery of 100 grams of cocaine. He had been wanted in a previous drug investigation that brought three previous arrests.

Possession charges included with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity (five counts), controlled substance in a Tier 4 quantity (four counts), controlled substance in a Tier 5 quantity (five counts) and firearm by person prohibited (three counts), along with receiving a stolen firearm, second-degree conspiracy and following too closely.

Mr. Sample was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $176,000 secured bond on his original charges and $40,100 cash only on the additional charges.
