Holy Cross Alumni Association fundraiser to feature Sixpence

DOVER — The band Sixpence, performing dance music from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s will rock the fourth annual Holy Cross High School Alumni Association – Catholic Youth Ministries Beef and Beer on Saturday, Feb. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Auditorium, 631 S. State Street, Dover.

The fundraiser will support the Holy Cross Youth Basketball Program. Five members of the band are Holy Cross parishioners donating their time to support the program. Band members include Billy Lord, Kendall Dixon, Alvin Pope, Lori Christiansen, Michael Dunlop, Roxanne Dunlop, Michael Utley, and Jeff Thornley.

“The CYM basketball program promotes basketball skills and sportsmanship,” said event spokesman Scott Davis, “It serves over 500 boys and girls of all faiths in grades K to 12. Funds raised through past events have allowed the alumni association to replace bleachers, scoreboards, gym lights, and repainting of the gym.”

This year’s proceeds will be used to replace and update the baskets and backboards and support systems. The event will include music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, a beef carving station, beer and live and silent auctions featuring items from local businesses and friends of the program.
