Athlete of the Week: Eric Samuels, Dover High School

Dover High’s Eric Samuels was voted by readers as the Week 10 Delaware State News Athlete of the Week for his performance on the field.

In a 54-22 football win over rival Caesar Rodney High last Friday, Samuels was a key component for the Senators’ defensive unit.

The Dover senior recorded 9.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks, forced a fumble and registered a pair of QB hurries to help the Senators pick up its third straight win to close out the season.

Dover capped the season with a 6-4 record, just missing out on the DIAA Division I state tournament.

Samuels’ Dover teammate Vonnie Peace and Sussex Tech High cross country runner Caleb Bradley also received votes.
