Blue sweeps White in lacrosse senior all-star games

DOVER — The teams were comprised differently, but that did not stop the Blue squad from sweeping the Blue-White senior all-star lacrosse games.

The Blue girls won 19-11 while the boys used a last-minute goal for a 14-13 victory on Tuesday night. Both games took place simultaneously at the two lacrosse fields at Dover High.

The Blue-White boys game followed the more traditional North vs. South format.

The White team was made up of all Kent and Sussex County schools plus all Middletown-area schools. The remaining New Castle County schools were all on the White team.

The girls’ game followed a different format, splitting up the conferences as the Blue included Archmere, Cape Henlopen, Christiana, Concord, Dover, Indian River, Newark Charter, Smyrna, St. Mark’s and Sussex Tech.

The White team had players from A.I. du Pont, Caesar Rodney, Conrad, Delaware Military Academy, Padua, Polytech, St. Andrew’s, St. Georges, Sussex Academy, Tatnall, Ursuline and Wilmington Friends.

The Blue led wire-to-wire as Alia Marshall, of state champion Cape Henlopen, scored the game’s opening goal. Marshall netted both of her goals in the first half as the Blue went on top 10-5 at halftime.

Isabella Scheib of Concord paced the Blue with a game-high five goals. Kate Olsen (Archmere) contributed four goals for the Blue.
Marshall, Madison Karr of Newark Charter, Caroline Donovan of Archmere and Megan Noonan of St. Mark’s each added two goals. Julie Snow (Smyrna) and Destiny Davis (Christiana) also scored once.

The White team was led by five goals from Rachel Delate of Padua. Jordan Bramble (Padua) and Jane Lyons (Ursuline) each scored twice.
Polytech’s Holly Rembold provided a goal and an assist for the White squad while Haley Hockenbrock of Conrad scored one goal.

In the boys’ game, the Blue scored the final four goals of the game to rally from a 13-10 deficit.

Archmere’s Cole Bauer scored the game-winner with 1:17 remaining. The White did have a chance to tie but a final shot went into the outside of the side-netting just as time expired.

The Blue’s Nolan Collins of Archmere was one of three players in the game to record a hat-trick.

Luke D’Ambrogi (Cape Henlopen) and Devin Cave-Pearsall (Sussex Central) were the other two, both on the White team.

Jack Dennis of Cape Henlopen and Max Myers of Middletown each had two-goal games for the White squad. Evan McCleary (Caesar Rodney), Jason Kaiser (Smyrna) and Matt Kracyla of Middletown contributed a goal apiece for the White team.

Bauer, Brian Neill of Archmere, Logan Falconetti of Salesianum and Theo Stone of Tower Hill each netted two goals for the Blue team. Sebastian Salazar (St. Mark’s), Brad Santore (Salesianum) and Beau Neff (Tatnall) rounded out the scoring for the Blue.
