Brengle falls in second round at Wimbledon

Madison Brengle’s Wimbledon run ended with a 6-3, 6-4 second-round loss to Karolina Muchova on Wednesday morning.

The 29-year-old from Dover looked like she might send the match to a third set when she won the first three games of the second set. But Muchova rallied, eventually winning the final four games to close out the match.

The turning point may have come in the seventh game. Brengle was up 30-0 with a chance to take a 5-2 advantage in the set.

But the 22-year-old Muchova came back to win the game before reeling off the next three games.

Muchova made 28 unforced errors but hit 36 winners in the match. She also had six aces.

Brengle made only 17 unforced errors but also only 10 winners with no aces.
