Del. Senior Olympics annual pickleball tournament

Over 200 players from eight states recently competed in the Delaware Senior Olympics annual pickleball tournament at the Kent County Levy Court’s Recreation Center on New Burton Road in Dover.

The youngest age division was for 30-year-olds with players as old as 86 competing in the tourney. Dr. Bonnie Strang, 73, who received the Delaware Senior Olympics Outstanding Athlete of the Year award last year, squared off with Susan Brooker, 68, for the singles gold. Their match on Saturday lasted one hour and 30 minutes to play three games to 11. Brooker won the title, 11-4, 8-11, 12-10.
This past June over 30 Delawareans participated at the National Senior Games in Birmingham, Ala. and brought home the gold in all the events while competing aginst against 900 picklers.
