Delmar-Howard tourney game moved to Friday

DOVER – This weekend’s Delmar-Howard DIAA Division II football state semifinal game has been switched from Saturday to Friday night.

Second-seeded Delmar (9-2) will now host No. 4 Howard on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The DIAA said it made the move because of the threat of rainy weather on Saturday night.

The switch means that three of the four state semifinal contests will now be played on Friday. In Division I, No. 2 Middletown (9-1) hosts No. 3 Smyrna (9-2) at 7:30 p.m.

In the Division II matchups on Friday, No. 1 Woodbridge (10-1) hosts No. 6 Caravel (9-2) at 7 p.m. with Delmar hosting Howard at 7:30.

The only game being played on Saturday is in Division I where top-seeded Hodgson (10-0) hosts No. 4 Sussex Central (9-2) at noon.

Both games will be played on Nov. 30 at Delaware Stadium.
