District I reaches East finals in Big League softball

WORCESTER, Mass. – Kent County’s Big League softball team reached the Eastern Regional finals on Wednesday morning but it wasn’t easy.

Shaina Reed singled home Whitney DeMora with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as District I edged Massachusetts District-3, 2-1, in the East semifinals.

The hard-earned victory puts Kent County in the East finals, which are scheduled for today at 4 p.m. The Delaware squad will play either New York or Massachusetts District 4.

The winner of that game goes earns a berth in the Big League World Series, which starts on Sunday at Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana.

District I, which is now 5-0 in the regional, led 1-0 before Massachusetts tied it with a homerun in the top of the seventh.
