Hornets blanked 68-0 on road by FBS foe Western Michigan

Delaware State University had another tough time against a FBS opponent Saturday night.

The Hornets were shut out at Western Michigan and fell 68-0 to the school out of the Mid-American Conference.

It’s the second time this season Delaware State lost to a FBS team. The Hornets fell to Buffalo, also from the MAC, in the season opener.

Delaware State dropped to 0-3. The Hornets have a bye next weekend before beginning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play the following weekend.

Delaware State also lost two games to FBS teams last year — West Virginia and Florida State.

The Hornets only recorded five first downs against Western Michigan. They were out-gained 527-123 in total yardage.

Keenan Black and Jack McDaniels combined for only eight passing yards. The two quarterbacks only completed four passes of 11 attempts.

Richard Harris led the Hornets in yardage with 42 rushing yards which is a career high. Mike Waters recorded 37 rushing yards while Black had 34 yards on the ground.

Taronn Selby caught three passes for five yards.

Jon Wassink paced Western Michigan 286 passing yards and two touchdowns. He completed 23-of-30 attempts.

Giovanni Ricci caught both touchdowns from Wassink and recorded 77 receiving yards.
