Knight among Hens named all-CAA

NEWARK – Will Knight capped off his first football season at Delaware by earning second-team all-CAA honors today.

The former Smyrna High standout running back was one of seven Blue Hens named to the all-Colonial Athletic Association team. Delaware, which finished 5-7, didn’t have any first-team picks.

In his first season since transferring from Old Dominion, Knight ran for a team-high 919 yards and seven touchdowns for Delaware. The redshirt freshman was second in the CAA in rushing.

Other Hens named to the second team were senior fullback Owen Tyler, senior center Mario Farinella, senior defensive lineman Cam Kitchen and senior punter Nick Pritchard.

Redshirt senior offensive lineman Chuka Ezeuzoh and sophomore safety Kedrick Whitehead (Middletown)earned spots on the third team.

Whitehead led Delaware’s defense in tackles with 103, ranking first in the league among defensive backs in that category. He became just the 10th sophomore in program history and just the third DB to reach 100-plus tackles in a season. He also had five pass breakups and one INT.
