Local roundup: Dover product Hutchins has 4 RBI as Hens pound Goldey-Beacom 15-1

Jordan Hutchins drove in four runs as the University of Delaware baseball team downed Goldey-Beacom 15-1 on Friday afternoon.
Delaware improved to 2-14 with the victory.

Hutchins, a Dover High product, went 3-for-5 and scored three runs. He also added a double.

Jack Goan recorded three RBI and Austin Colmery had two. Kevin Mohollen, Erik Bowren and Hutchins each scored three runs.
Joseph Carpenter homered and scored twice.

Brandon Walter picked up the first win of his season for UD, going eight innings and striking out 12. He scattered four hits before Ari Silverstein pitched the final frame for Delaware.

Tevin Thomas, another Dover product, had one hit for Goldey-Beacom.

Norfolk State 8, Delaware State 5: Norfolk State scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to overcome a two-run deficit in DelState’s MEAC opener.

Adrian Hill, John Weglarz, Will Kimmel and Todd Henry had two hits each for the Hornets. Hill, a Polytech grad, was 2-for-3 to raise his season average to .306.

Henry knocked in a pair of runs for the Hornets.

Dover grad Garrett Lawson received a no-decision after pitching seven innings and striking out seven.
