Local roundup: Drexel tops Blue Hens 57-40 in CAA women’s basketball

Drexel downed Delaware 57-40, in CAA women’s basketball on Sunday afternoon for the Dragons’ eighth straight victory over the Blue Hens.

That streak matches Drexel’s longest all-time winning streak against the Hens. The Dragons have also won six games in a row in Newark.

Drexel forced 16 Delaware turnovers and held the Hens to a season-low 40 points. Delaware got back within 15 at various points during the fourth quarter, but never mounted a serious threat to the Dragons,

Bailey Kargo, with 12 points, was the only Delaware player who scored in double figures.

Boys’ basketball

Caesar Rodney 54, Sussex Central 36: In a Henlopen North game played Friday, the Riders out-scored the Golden Knights, 19-5, in the second quarter to overcome an early five-point deficit.

Jaden Corbett (14 points), who sank three three-pointers, and William Scott (12) both scored in double figures for CR (5-1 North, 8-2 overall).

Aaron Mollock netted a game-high 17 points for Central.
