Local Roundup: ECHS@DSU boys top FSMA, IR girls win

Early College High School at Delaware State University defeated First State Military Academy 89-49 in a boys’ basketball contest on Thursday night.

It was the first game between the two new Kent County schools. ECHS@DSU improved to 4-3 overall with the win while First State Military dropped to 1-7.

Laurel 59, Milford 47: Eric Pilot scored 34 points and made seven three-pointers as the Bulldogs earned the Henlopen Conference Southern Division victory.

Dion Warner had 12 points while Terrell Gibbs chipped in 10 for the Buccaneers.

Indian River 66, Lake Forest 48: OrRyin Morris paced the Indians with 23 points and Jamier Felton had 20 in the Henlopen South win.

Indian River has won its last five games. Thomas Hoskins contributed 13 points for the Spartans.

Woodbridge 74, Seaford 68: Hassan Corbin’s game-high 26 points lifted the Blue Raiders in the Henlopen South matchup.

Delmar 68, Sussex Academy 30: The Wildcats earned the Henlopen South win behind William Schuyler’s 16 points while Brooks Parker scored 13 points.

Girls’ basketball

Indian River 42, Lake Forest 29: Fabrea’ McCray and Julia Jordan each netted 10 points for Indian River in the Henlopen South contest.

Appoquinimink 37, Cape Henlopen 34: The Vikings fell in the nonconference matchup despite a late rally where they outscored Appoquinimink 11-4 in the fourth quarter.

Delmar 48, Sussex Academy 42: The Wildcats went on a 10-4 in overtime to edge Sussex Academy.

Shaniya Briddel’s 19 points paced Delmar.

Wrestling

Indian River 60, Wilmington Christian 15: Ian Shaubach, Ta’Jon Knight and Reshawn Turner all recorded pins in a nonconference win for the Indians.

Dover 42, Sussex Tech 23: In a match contested on Wednesday, the Senators earned a Henlopen North victory.
