Local roundup: Lake Forest defeats Seaford 56-39 in South girls basketball

The Lake Forest High girls’ basketball team defeated Seaford High 56-39 in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division matchup on Thursday for the Spartans’ seventh win in a row.

Grace Aguilar paced Lake Forest (14-2) with a game-high 19 points. Gabrielle Almonte added 12 points while Jada Gourdine chipped in 11.

Shaniya Briddell scored 17 points to lead Seaford (7-9).

Woodbridge 84, Milford 18: The Blue Raiders remained unbeaten and moved to 15-0 overall.

Cha’Kya Johnson led the way with 19 points for Woodbridge. Janeira Scott, Tykeya Nelson and Mikayla Serpa recorded 12 points apiece.

Sussex Tech 63, Sussex Central 34: The Ravens won their seventh-straight and improved to 12-3 overall after the Henlopen North contest.

Cape Henlopen 75, Caesar Rodney 21: The Vikings earned the Henlopen North victory and moved to 12-3 on the season.

Abbey Hearn scored a game-high 24 points for Cape Henlopen

Boys’ basketball

Delmar 72, Indian River 62: Isaiah Kane’s 19 points lifted the Wildcats to the Henlopen South win.

Trevor Gibson added 16 points for Delmar while Jerome Mitchell tallied 14. Jeremiah Lumpkin-Beale also finished in double figures with 12 points.

Jamier Felton netted 18 points to pace the Indians and Antonio Jones scored 15.

Laurel 61, Sussex Academy 23: Tavar Wilson scored a game-high 17 points in the Bulldog victory.

Robert Malone added 14 points and Nifere Griffin scored 12.

Lake Forest 50, Seaford 37: Jaysem Vazquez had 18 points and Kaheim Kimbrough-Roach followed with 16 in the Spartans’ Henlopen South win.
