Grace Aguilar was one of three Lake Forest players in double figures with 15 points as the Spartans edged Smyrna High 53-47 in a girls’ basketball contest on Thursday afternoon.
Jada Gourdine netted 12 points while Elle Wood chipped in 11 for Lake Forest. The Spartans used a 25-15 fourth quarter to seal the win.
Jayla Smith recorded a game-high 26 points to lead Smyrna.
Woodbridge 47, Padua 43: The Blue Raiders remained unbeaten and improved to 13-0 with the nonconference victory.
Janeira Scott scored 21 points to lead Woodbridge.
The Blue Raiders trailed 22-14 at halftime but used a 19-2 run during the third quarter to take the lead.
Caravel 67, Sussex Central 47: Raeonna Stratton’s 15 points led the Golden Knights who suffered a nonconference defeat.
Brenya Reid chipped in 14 points. Azayah Garrison was also in double figures with 11 points.
Sussex Tech 52, James M. Bennett, Md. 32: Airelle Parker and Mi’Cah Shelton each scored 11 points as the Ravens downed an out-of-state opponent.
Cape Henlopen 49, Indian River 12: The Vikings won their 10th game in a row to move to 11-1.
Boys’ basketball
Woodbridge 66, Delmar 49: The Blue Raiders took the Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest behind 18 points from Jamon Kane.
Troy Haynes added 14 points for Woodbridge.
Seaford 66, First State Military 40: Jervuanta Cannon paced the Blue Jays with 17 points and Da’Jion Garrison contributed 15 points in the win.
Cape Henlopen 81, Indian River 46: The Vikings made 10 three-pointer on their way to victory.
Shi’Kai Chandler was Cape’s top-scorer with 17 points.
