Local roundup: M.O.T. defeats Dover 10-3 to reach District I Major League baseball winners’ final

M.O.T. topped Dover, 10-3, on Friday evening to advance to the District I winners’ bracket finals in Major League baseball.

The Middletown-area squad, which is hosting the double-elimination tourney, will play again on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

Eddie Stranahan hit a three-run homerun for M.O.T. (2-0) while winning pitcher Stefan Radovanovic (2-for-4, 1 run, 1 RBI) threw four shutout innings, allowing only three hits with two strikeouts.

Cole Turner and Grayson Smith both had a pair of hits for Dover (0-1), which faces Smyrna-Clayton (0-1) today at 8:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

Senior League

Naamans 4, Smyrna-Clayton 0: Naamans won the state title with the victory on Friday night in Georgetown.

The District II champions, who went 3-0 in the tournament, advance to the Eastern Regional in Bangor, Maine.

District I Smyrna-Clayton went 1-2 in the state tourney, with both losses coming against Naamans.

Junior League

Camden-Wyoming 7, M.O.T. 4: Camden-Wyoming opened the District I tournament with a win on Friday night.

Camden-Wyoming plays again today at 8:30 p.m. at Smyrna-Clayton with M.O.T. playing in the 6 p.m. contest.


8-10 Tournament

Smyrna-Clayton 7, M.O.T. 2: Smyrna-Clayton captured the District I title with the victory on Thursday night.

Smyrna-Clayton finished 3-0 in the tourney, allowing a total of only four runs.

Winning pitcher Kate Slaney gave up just three hits and struck out three. Addison Weisenberger went 2-for-3 while Savannah Arnold, Kylie Vanhorn, Lyndsey Roscoe and Jalen Ryan all had one hit.

Smyrna-Clayton advances to the state tournament, which starts on July 15 in Milford.
