Local roundup: Moore’s goal lifts Wesley women’s soccer team to 4-3 win

Janiah Moore netted the game-winning goal in the 55th minute as the Wesley College women’s soccer team edged Penn State Brandywine 4-3 on Wednesday night.

The Wolverines took the lead three separate times before Penn State Brandywine equalized each time. Moore’s tally was her second goal of the game and held up over the final 25 minutes.

Emily Caldarelli also scored twice for Wesley (1-0). Isabelle Fabris made five saves in net to record the win.

Field hockey

Wesley 8, Notre Dame, Md. 0: Kaila Hindt’s four goals paced the Wolverines to their third win a row to begin the season.

Kristen Fuhr, Rebecca Dvorak, Samantha Dingus and Natalie Quigley also scored for Wesley. Bridget Wood and Syndey Knott each made a pair of saves to combine on the shutout.


American 3, Delaware State 0: The scores were 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19 as the Hornets fell to 0-8.

Mayah Ngundam led Delaware State with six kills, while freshman Milexa Cardonarecorded a team-high 21 assists. DSU’s Mia Taula tied for match-high honors with eight kills.

Men’s soccer

Princeton 2, Delaware 0: The Hens only recorded five shots on goal in the nonconference defeat.
