Local roundup: Prillaman’s OT goal gives CR soccer victory

Jessie Prillaman’s overtime goal lifted Caesar Rodney High to a 3-2 victory over Polytech in a Henlopen Conference Northern Division girls’ soccer matchup on Thursday evening.

Megan Rigsby assisted Prillaman on the game winner, which came in the 93rd minute for the Riders (1-0 North, 3-0 overall).

Kim Glasser and Jada McCullough netted first-half goals for CR on assists from Megan Powers. Morgan Desaulniers made three saves for the Riders, who finished with advantages of 30-5 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks.

Alyssa-Lynn Brown made 22 saves for the Panthers (0-1, 2-1), who got two goals from Devon Ott. Ott tied the game at 2-2 on a goal in the 51st minute.

Cape Henlopen 2, Dover 1: Hannah Bieler (1 assist) and Brooke Hollingsworth scored second-half goals two minutes apart for the Vikings as they posted the Henlopen North win.

Lucy Siranidesmade had three saves for Cape, which outshot the Senators, 12-4.

Brittney Rosello made 10 saves for Dover.

Smyrna 3, Sussex Tech 0: Destiny Zapata netted the first two goals in the Eagles’ Henlopen North victory.

Marissa McClenton also scored for Smyrna, which led 3-0 at halftime. Cassidy Cook made eight saves as the Eagles outshot the Ravens, 13-12.

Sussex Tech’s Valencia Whealton stopped eight shots.

Sussex Academy 3, Lake Forest 2: Savannah Sistrunk’s second-half goal broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Seahawks to the South victory.

Lilly Short netted a pair of first-half goals as Sussex Academy led 2-0 at halftime.

Julianna Tyndall and Alexis Wright scored the Spartans’ goals.

Delmar 12, Milford 0: Logan Walls tallied five goals and a pair of assists to pace the Wildcats to the Henlopen South win.

Ashlyn Hastings (2 assists), Monyae Alexander and Ashlyn Carr (2 assists) added two goals apiece with MacKenzie Niblett scoring the other.


BOYS, Polytech 15, Smyrna 7: Christopher Rutkoski netted four goals with Patrick O’Brien adding three goals and seven assists in the Panthers’ Henlopen North win on Wednesday.

Zach Trabaudo (2 assists) and Christopher McCallister (1 assist) also scored three goals for Polytech, which led 9-3 at halftime. Samuel Slater added two goals and a pair of assists.

Jonathan Guzman scored five goals for the Eagles with Charles Deslongchamp stopping seven shots.

Gunston Day School 14, Delmarva Christian 2: Hunter Smith tallied both goals for the Royals in the loss.

GIRLS, Dover 21, Delaware Military 0: Riley McQuaide and Madison Small has four goals and an assist each as the Senators blanked the Seahawks.

Grace Gast (4 assists) and Angela Poole (1 assist) both added three goals apiece for Dover, which got goals from 11 different players. The Senators outshot DMA, 33-4.

St. Thomas More 9, Hodgson 7: The Ravens outscored the Silver Eagles, 6-3, in the second half to pull out the victory.

Zoe Kelly scored six goals for St. Thomas More, Jessica Simmons had two and Sophia Stafford added one. Madison Murrian made five saves.


Polytech 17, Smyrna 4: The Panthers broke open a four-run game with nine runs in the fourth inning.

Alexander Pingitore drove in five runs and had three of Polytech’s nine hits. Evan Harris (3 runs), Chase Rebuck (3 RBI, 2 runs) and Thomas Mitchell (3 RBI, 2 runs) all added a pair of hits.

Mason Drummond went 2-for-2 with a double for the Eagles.

Delmarva Christian 9, Seaford 8: The Royals overcame an early 7-0 deficit, winning the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Riley Culver hit a homerun for Delmarva Christian, which also got multiple hits from Ben Hobbs, Andrew Workman, Chase Hesson and Michael Briggs.

Zachary Adams and Isaiah Lake had multiple hit for Seaford.

Delmar 10, Wicomico 0: Matt Rodriguez pitched four no-hit innings while adding a double to lead the Wildcats.

Ryan Nelson pitched the final inning of the five-inning one-hitter for Delmar, which scored four runs in the third.

Salisbury Christian 11, Sussex Academy 3: Jason Xiong had two hits, including a homer, for the Seahawks in the loss.


Smyrna 10, Polytech 0: Madison Drummond drove in six runs for the Eagles in their Henlopen Conference victory.

Jessica Anderson and Payton Dixon combined to throw a five-inning one-hitter.

Lexi Moore and Drummond each had three hits as Smyrna finished with 13 in the game.

Kelsie Burawski had the Panthers’ lone hit.

Lake Forest 1, Cape Henlopen 0: Katie Stahre threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to earn the shutout for the Spartans on Wednesday.

Lake Forest, which had six hits, scored the game’s only run in the sixth.

Ryleigh Elliott and Haley Rauch had Cape’s hits.
