Local roundup: Slacum, Parker lead Delmarva Christian to 6-0 hockey win

Hannah Slacum scored twice in the first half and Erin Parker added a pair of goals in the second half as Delmarva Christian blanked McKean, 6-0, in field hockey on Monday afternoon.

Leah Sclabach and Jorja Eppehimer also scored goals for Delmarva Christian, which held advantages of 13-1 in shots and 10-3 in corners.

Caravel 5, Caesar Rodney 0: The Buccaneers tallied three first-half goals in blanking the Riders on Sunday.

Lauren Caulk made 12 saves for CR, which was outshot, 19-5. The game was played at Delaware’s Rullo Stadium as part of the Turf Bowl.

Boys’ soccer

Salisbury School, Md. 3, Delmarva Christian 1: Logan Tyler scored a first-half goals for the Royals in the loss.

Football

CR homecoming schedule: Caesar Rodney High has established the schedule for Friday’s homecoming football game with Cape Henlopen on Friday.

The contest will also be the first in CR’s renovated stadium.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. with kickoff to follow at 7:30.

The main entrance to Rider Stadium will off of Old Camden Rd. across from La Ortolana Pizza. No parking will be permitted in the back of the high school or along Old Camden Rd. starting at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Tickets will be sold in the main office, today through Friday, between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for students (grades 1-12).

Volleyball

Salisbury Christian 3, Woodbridge 0: The Raiders dropped a nonconference decision on Monday.

College soccer

WOMEN, Navy 3, Delaware State 1: Savannah Ay scored the lone goal while Leslie Fazio made eight saves for the Hornets in the loss.
Hens’ Hummrich honored: University of Delaware freshman midfielder Timo Hummrich earned his second CAA Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week honor in three weeks on Monday.

Hummrich scored the only goal of the game during the Blue Hens’ 1-0 victory at Elon last Wednesday.

Hummrich, who has started all 11 matches in the Blue Hen backfield this season, currently leads the team with three goals. He is tied for second in the league with three goals in CAA matches.
