Local roundup: Wolverines defeat Immaculata 3-2 in AEC field hockey

Three different players scored goals as Wesley College downed Immaculata, 3-2, in Atlantic East Conference field hockey on Saturday afternoon.

A goal from Kaila Hindt (Smyrna) at the 48:22 mark gave the Wolverines (3-1 AEC, 10-7 overall) a 3-1 fourth-quarter lead before they held on for the win.

Jessica Behornar tallied a first-quarter goal before Hanna Giaccone’s third-quarter goal put Wesley ahead to stay. The Wolverines finished with advantages of 17-8 in shots and 9-5 in corners.

College soccer

WOMEN, Marywood 1, Wesley 0: The Pacers scored the game’s only goal in the 83rd minute to edge the Wolverines (4-1 AEC, 9-7 overall).

Wesley goalie Kiyanna Gill made seven saves. Marywood out-shot the Wolverines, 21-7.


Wesley 3. Immaculata 0: The Wolverines earned their first AEC win of the season by scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 on Saturday.

Regan Kelley had 14 kills for Wesley (1-3 AEC, 12-13 overall) while Lindsay Burg added 16 kills, nine digs.

Boys’ soccer

Wilmington Charter 1, Indian River 0: The Force netted a goal in the first 10 minutes before blanking the Indians.
