As the high school football season enters week seven, the Henlopen Conference divisional races are just starting to heat up.

Here are our predictions for this weekend’s local high school and college football games.


Andy Walter, Delaware State News: 50-25

Tim Mastro, Delaware State News: 55-20

Ben Heck, Milford Chronicle: 50-25

Glenn Frazer, Radio 105.9-FM: 50-25

Matt Pencek, WBOC-TV: 52-23

Cape Henlopen (2-4) at Milford (4-2)

Bucs look to stay on track after big win while Cape is out to end its three-game skid.

AW: Milford, 21-7; TM: Milford, 28-7; BH: Milford, 28-10; GF: Milford, 24-20; MP: Milford, 20-17.

Caesar Rodney (1-2, 3-3) at Sussex Tech (1-1, 3-3)

The winner of this Northern Division clash gets to come out of it with a winning record.

AW: CR, 24-20; TM: STech, 22-21; BH: STech, 24-14; GF: STech, 17-14; MP: STech, 17-14.

Smyrna (3-0, 4-2) at Dover (0-2, 1-5)

Smyrna and Will Knight seem to be picking up momentum as the season goes along.

AW: Smyrna, 56-14; TM: Smyrna, 56-21; BH: Smyrna, 34-7; GF: Smyrna, 48-13; MP: Smyrna, 56-20.

Polytech (2-0, 5-1) at Sussex Central (2-1, 5-1)

With a 4-game winning streak, Panthers get chance to prove they’re a contender in North.

AW: Central, 35-13; TM: Central, 24-14; BH: Central, 21-17; GF: Central, 21-20; MP: Central, 27-17.

Lake Forest (1-1, 2-4) at Woodbridge (2-1, 5-1)

Lake gets task of facing Raiders a week after they had 18-game winning streak snapped.    

AW: Wood, 45-15; TM: Wood, 42-21; BH: Wood, 35-13; GF: Wood, 32-13; MP: Wood, 49-12.

Seaford (1-2, 3-2) at Delmar (2-0, 5-1), 7:30 p.m.

The Jays are getting better but the Wildcats have outscored their last four foes, 171-47.      

AW: Delmar, 48-14; TM: Delmar, 42-13; BH: Delmar, 20-7; GF: Delmar, 38-20; MP: Delmar, 35-14.


Indian River (0-3, 1-5) at Laurel (0-2, 2-4), 1 p.m.

One of the two teams will be pretty happy to finally get their first South victory of the year.

Rowan (2-3, 3-3) at Wesley (5-0, 5-1), 1 p.m.

Even though they’re down this year, Profs have always been a tough opponent for Wesley.

South Carolina State (1-3, 2-4) at Delaware State (0-4, 0-6), 2 p.m.

The longer it goes, the tougher it seems for Hornets to snap their 17-game losing streak.

Richmond (2-1, 4-2) at Delaware (2-1, 4-2), 3:30 p.m.

The Blue Hens know they’ll probably need more points to knock off the No. 11 Spiders.
