Roundup: C-W wins District I Junior League baseball title

Camden-Wyoming scored six runs in the first inning on its way to a 16-3 victory over Felton-Harrington to win the District I Junior League baseball championship on Thursday night.

Chris Friend and Jayden Wofford each knocked in a pair of runs during the pivotal first inning. Ryan Rigby provided a two-RBI triple for Camden-Wyoming.

Rigby also pitched five innings to record the victory.

9-10 baseball

Felton-Harrington 20, Milford 10: Brock Robbins was 4-for-4 and Johnathan Kendall hit a pair of doubles as Felton-Harrington stayed alive to reach tonight’s championship game.

American Legion

Fox Post-2 13, Milford Post-3 3: Jarvis Worthy went 3-for-3 with three RBI to help Fox Post-2 earn the win on Thursday.

Jake William drove in a pair of runs, Kendall Small had a double with a RBI while Andrew Mace and Miguel Rivera each had a RBI single.

A.J. Johnson tossed a complete game for Fox Post-2.

Softball

Junior League

Camden-Wyoming 6, Millsboro 3: Jada Courtney was 2-for-4 including a bases-clearing double in a tie-game as Camden-Wyoming won its second game of the state tournament to reach Saturday’s championship game.

Kristin Keller was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for Camden-Wyoming.

College golf

Hen women announce schedule: The Blue Hen women’s golf team will compete in five tournaments and will again host the University of Delaware Invitational in Rehoboth Beach as UD announced its 2016 fall schedule on Wednesday.

Delaware will open its slate on Sept. 15-17 at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J., before heading back to the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, Pa. on Sept. 24-25. UD captured the team title at the Rutgers Invitational last year, and placed second at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

The Blue Hens will compete in the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. on Oct. 1-2, and then head west for the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Denver at Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Golf Course on Oct. 7-9.

The following weekend the Blue Hens will wrap up their fall schedule by hosting the fourth annual University of Delaware Invitational on Oct. 22-23 at Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
