Roundup: Delaware earns 12th straight win over Drexel in field hockey

No. 9 Delaware defeated Drexel, 4-1, in Colonial Athletic Association field hockey on Sunday as records continue to fall for the Blue Hens.

Sophomore Greta Nauck tallied her eighth multi-goal game of the season and en route broke the UD single-season record with 24 goals. Caesar Rodney High grad Casey Howard previously held the record of 22, which was set during the 2009 campaign.

The win was also the 12th straight for Delaware (6-0 CAA, 17-2 overall), which concludes the regular season by tying the school record with 17 wins while going unbeaten in conference play for just the second time since 1991.

Senior Meghan Winesett and freshman Ally Pollak also registered goals for the Blue Hens on senior day.

Junior Emmeline Oltmans allowed one goal with one save in 63 minutes of play before redshirt freshman Sydney Rhodes came in relief.

“It’s great,” Nauck said about setting the record. “But at the end of the day I play a team sport and I don’t care about individual honors. I wouldn’t be the player I am today without the support of all of my teammates and the coaching staff. It only matters if we get the win, and today we did so.”
