Roundup: Fullerton leads Lake over Sussex Central 15-4 in lax

Kaidan Fullerton’s five goals paced the Lake Forest High boys’ lacrosse team to a 15-4 victory over Sussex Central High on Saturday afternoon.

Kade Collins and Carter Kenton each had a hat-trick for the Spartans. Kurt Moyer scored twice while Reese Yost and Joshua Kennedy also scored a goal.

Lake Forest improved to 8-3 on the season.

Girls’ soccer

Sussex Tech 2, Middletown 2: Aliyah Browning and Hannah Murphy provided the goals as the Ravens played the defending Division I state champions to a draw.

College baseball

College of Charleston 11, Delaware 2: Dover High product Jordan Hutchins hit his first home run of his collegiate career but the Blue Hens dropped the road CAA contest.

The Hens (22-19, 7-7 CAA) got their only two runs on a home by the freshman Hutchins in the top of the fourth inning, but a four-run bottom half of the inning by Charleston (29-15, 11-6 CAA) put the game away.

Freshman Billy Sullivan IV (4-2) started for Delaware, allowing a career-high seven runs over four and two-thirds innings of work. The former St. Mark’s product struck out three.

Delaware received a strong fifth inning from Joey Haass and a pair of innings from Clay Conaway, while freshman Matt Ryan pitched a scoreless eighth.

Coppin State 4, Delaware State 1: The Hornets allowed two runs in the bottom of the first and fell in the MEAC matchup.

Adrian Hill scored the lone run for the Hornets on an error in the top of the eight. Tripp Kimmell and Daryl Wilson led Delaware State with two hits apiece.

Lane DeLeon pitched eight innings for DelState and struck out nine.

Wesley drops a pair: The Wolverines wrapped up their season with two defeats to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport.

The Wolverines fell in the first game 22-2 before a 4-3 loss in the nightcap.

Chris Seibert had a two-run double in the first game before hitting two home runs in the second game. Alex Marrs tied a career-high with 14 strikeouts in Game Two.

College softball

UD splits road doubleheader: The Hens posted a 5-1 win over UNCW in the opener before dropping a 3-0 decision in the nightcap.

Delaware (12-31, 4-13 CAA) struck first in the opener during the top of the second inning when Reyna de Jesus scored on a throwing error by the Seahawks catcher on a double steal attempt. The following frame Leanna Gearhart singled with one out, moved to third on a Giovanna Kolofer single, and scored when Mariah Kondravy ripped a single to leftfield.

DelState falls twice to Albany: The Great Danes won the first contest 8-4 and completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory.

In the opener, Chelsea Henige was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in while Kelly Barkevich and Donna Conrad drove in two runs each to lead the Great Danes.

Delaware State trailed 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Desiree Moreno hit a solo homer and Vanessa Washington added a two-run shot later in the inning to cut deficit to a run

Washington has 33 career home runs, tying for second with Patty Brown (2000-03) on the Hornets’ all-time.

Sabrina Quarles had two hits, including a triple, in the opener for the Hornets.
