Roundup: M.O.T. earns District I Senior League softball crown

M.O.T. finished its run through the District I tournament with a 27-8 victory over Smyrna-Clayton in Senior League softball on Sunday evening.

The Middletown-area squad won its two games by a total of 39-10 to capture the championship in the tourney, played at Camden-Wyoming.

M.O.T. advances to the two-team state tournament, which starts on July 14 at Suburban Little League. The state champion earns a spot in the Eastern Regional in Worcester, Mass.

The Senior League World Series is being hosted again by Lower Sussex Little League in Roxana from July 30-Aug. 5.
