UD’s Daly earns weekly honor: University of Delaware freshman guard Ryan Daly earned his third Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week award and his second in as many weeks, the conference announced on Monday.

Daly averaged 18.7 points and 4.7 rebounds during the Blue Hens’ three games last week, shooting 22 of 40 (55.0%) from the field and handing out eight assists.

Daly scored a game-high 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting and grabbed a team-best six rebounds in last Monday’s loss to Charleston, and added eight points and a season-high four assists Thursday at Northeastern. Daly then scored a career-high 28 points vs. UNCW on Saturday, and again led the team with six rebounds. He went 10 of 16 from the field and knocked four three-pointers against the Seahawks, while his 28-point effort was the fourth most by a UD freshman in school history.

Daly has reached double figures in eight of the last nine games, scoring at least 20 points four times in that span. He leads the Blue Hens with 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and ranks second on the squad with 27 three-pointers. He currently ranks seventh in the CAA in rebounding, and is the 12th leading scorer in the conference.
