Roundup: Polytech girls and St. Thomas More boys win in basketball

Polytech High pulled away in the fourth quarter to post a 57-39 victory over Smyrna in Henlopen conference Northern Division girls’ basketball on Tuesday evening.

The win was the sixth in a row for the Panthers (4-2 North, 6-2 overall), who outscored the Eagles, 18-6 in the final period.

Yaa Afriyie netted 22 points to pace Polytech with Courtney Turner adding 13.

Jayla Smith scored a game-high 24 points for Smyrna.

Cape Henlopen 48, Dover 46, OT: The Vikings edged the Senators in overtime in a Henlopen North matchup on Tuesday.

Boys’ basketball

St. Thomas More 78, ECHS@DSU 47: The Ravens improved to 4-2 with the victory while the Hornets fell to 3-3.
