Roundup: Smyrna Post 14 sweeps R.C. DuPont in Legion baseball

Smyrna Post 14 surrendered a total of only four runs in two games in sweeping R.C. DuPont in American Legion baseball on Wednesday night.

Smyrna won by scores of 6-2 and 9-2 in the twinbill, played at Smyrna’s Little League complex.

After winning for the fifth time in its last six games, Smyrna is now 8-6 in its first season in the league.

Smyrna is next slated to play on Saturday in Wilmington when it faces Delaware Post 1 (11-3) in a noon doubleheader at Salesianum.

Special Olympics

‘Try it Day’ on tap: Delaware Special Olympics is holding a Try-It Day is on July 26, from 4-7 p.m. at the DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica.

The event is open to any new athletes as well as athletes already participating in Special Olympics school programs, or other agencies who are interested in learning more about the area programs.

Athletes will have an opportunity to try sports while parents attend a short information session. Stop by any time between 4-7 p.m. There is no fee but registration is required. For more information and to register visit
