College volleyball

Hens’ Hayes honored: Delaware middle hitter Julia Hayes was named the CAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Hayes, a redshirt freshman, recorded a career-high nine blocks during Delaware’s five-set victory at William & Mary on Thursday. She then again led all players by posting nine more blocks in a five-set loss at Elon on Saturday.

Those two efforts are the two highest block totals by a Blue Hen this season.
