Roundup: Woodbridge blanks St. Mark’s 42-0 in nonconference football

Woodbridge High rolled to a 42-0 victory over St. Mark’s in a nonconference football matchup on Friday night.

The Blue Raiders improved to 7-1 with the win while he Spartans fell to 5-3.

The shutout was the fourth for Woodbridge in its last five games.

Lake Forest 40, Seaford 18: The Spartans evened their South record to 2-2 while improving to 3-5 overall.

The Blue Jays dropped to 1-4 in the South, 3-4 overall.

Delmar 42, Laurel 0: The Wildcats (4-0 South, 7-1 overall) stretched their winning streak to six games in a row with the South win.

Delmar has also scored at least 40 points in its last five contests.

Delaware Military 58, First State Military 20: The Bulldogs fell to 0-6 in their first varsity season but not before scoring a season-high 20 points.

College field hockey

Delaware 6, Hofstra 0: The Blue Hens (5-0 CAA, 12-4 overall) clinched the CAA regular-season title for the third time in the last five years and will host the conference tournament for the second straight year.

The Hens will host the four-team CAA Tournament on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5. William & Mary and James Madison have also clinched berths while Northeastern and Drexel battle for the final spot.

Junior Greta Nauck led the way with her seventh multi-goal contest of the year as the forward notched two goals. Delaware also got goals from seniors Kayla Devlin and Taylor Lister and junior Lisa Giezeman and freshman Femke Strien.

College volleyball

Northeastern 3, Delaware 0: The Blue Hens saw their two-match winning streak come to an end.

The Huskies, who snapped a two-match losing streak, captured the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 21-18 to improve to 16-8 overall and 9-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Delaware, which was coming off home wins over William & Mary and Elon last weekend, fell to 5-16 overall and 3-8 in league play.

UD junior Brooke Robertson led the Blue Hens with seven kills and added six digs, while current CAA Rookie of the Week Courtnie Roberts added 10 assists, seven digs and five kills.
