After going 4-5 last season, the Jays are optimistic they can be more competitive in ‘18.

Smyrna looks to prove its just reloading in a rematch of the last two Division I state finals.

Caesar Rodney at Appoquinimink
The Riders escaped with only a one-point victory in last year’s seasion opener at Appo.

A.I. DuPont at Polytech
Polytech is coming off a winning season but has new players working into the lineup.

Sussex Tech at Milford
Bucs edged Tech 3-0 in last year’s season opener before eventually reaching DII finals.

Cambridge-South Dorchester, Md. at Woodbridge
After going a 21-3 over the past two seasons, Blue Raiders look for another fast start.

Glasgow at Indian River
IR would love to duplicate last year’s opener when it toppled Glasgow for its only victory.

Cape Henlopen at Delmar, 7:30 p.m.
Defending Div. II champion Wildcats would love to start their season off with a Div. I win.

Sussex Central at Hodgson, 10:30 a.m.
A morning road game vs. a quality Hodgson program is a tough task for Golden Knights.

Laurel at Brandywine, noon
Laurel also faces long roadtrip as it looks to avenge last year’s 22-13 loss to Brandywine.

Dover at Archmere, 2 p.m.

Lake Forest at Wilmington Friends, 2 p.m.

Delaware State (0-1) at St. Francis, Pa. (0-1), noon
The Hornets hit the road again trying to get new coach Rod Milstead his first victory.
