Week 11 Pigskin Picks

Five Henlopen Conference football teams made the DIAA Division I and II state tournaments.

All five squads are in action tonight as the state tourneys get underway. Here our picks for this weekend’s local high school and college football games:

6-Salesianum (6-4) at 3-Smyrna (8-2)

Eagles have already beaten Sals once this year but they’ll have to do it again to advance.

5-Concord (6-4) at 3-Sussex Central (8-2)
Concord has won five straight but Golden Knights have won 10 straight games at home.

Division II state tournament
8-Wilmington Friends (7-2) at 1-Woodbridge (9-1)

The two meet for the fourth time in the last two seasons with Raiders 2-1 in those games.

7-Lake Forest (8-2) at 2-Delmar (8-2), 7:30 p.m.
Another rematch with Delmar having beaten Lake Forest, 34-6, just five weeks ago.

Christopher Newport (2-4, 2-7) at Wesley (5-1, 8-1), 1 p.m.

Captains are struggling but they’ve also won two of the last three meetings with Wesley.

Stony Brook (2-4, 5-5) at Delaware (2-4, 4-6), 1 p.m.
Hens will have to stop a three-game losing streak if they want to avoid a losing season.

Norfolk State (3-3, 4-6) at Delaware State (1-6, 2-8), 2 p.m.
After last week’s big upset of Bethune, Hornets would love to make it two wins in a row.
